Healthy Lifestyle Choices?

So I am at a store and I see this announcement for a local elementary (actually the one my daughter goes to) and I thought is was rather ironic.  Is our concept of health truly this messed up?  The Elementary is doing a Pumpkin walk where they are decorating pumpkins and celebrating healthy lifestyle choices of the students.  That is a wonderful idea, I thought to myself, until I read the bottom part about what they are serving: "Hot Chocolate, donuts, nachos,  popcorn, and hot dogs will be available for purchase"

It may be this way in a lot of areas in the country but it is one thing that we here in Utah county deal with a lot.  Children grow up being well educated on the bad effects of alcohol and tobacco, and sometime, that is all they are discourage to partake.  While they at times (like in this scenario) are encouraged to eat "junk food"

I am as guilty as the next person of eating a donut or hotdog from time to time... I just thought it ironic that on the same announcement stating health lifestyle choices, we then see the list of refreshments.  While tobacco and alcohol are serious toxins to the body, do not underestimate the damaging effects of junk-food.  Do not avoid smoking to prevent lung cancer, just to die from diabetes from not avoiding junk-food... avoid them both as much as possible!
